Prof. Bimal K. Bose completed his PhD at the age of 34 years from Calcutta University, India. He is Emeritus Chair Professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science of University of Tennessee, Knoxville, USA. He has published 7 books, more than 250 papers in reputed journals, holds 21 U.S. Patents, and had been serving as an editorial board member of Proceedings of the IEEE. He served as faculty member of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (1971-1976), research engineer in GE Global Research Center (1976-1987), and Endowed Chair Professor of the University of Tennessee. He is a recipient of 7 IEEE awards, Honorary D.Sc. from Indian Institute of Engineering Science and Technology, India.

Power Electronics

Eliade Stefanescu graduated the Faculty of Electronics, Section of Physicist Engineers, in 1970, and obtained a PhD in Theoretical Physics in 1990. As a Scientist from 1976, a Senior Scientist III from 1978, he worked in technology of semiconductor devices. From 1978, he worked in physics of optoelectronic devices. From 1987, and from 1990 as a Senior Scientist II, he worked in the field of open quantum physics. In 1991 he discovered that the penetrability of a potential barrier can be increased by coupling to a dissipative system, and described the decay spectrum of some cold fission modes. As a Senior Scientist I, from 1997 he developed a microscopic theory of open quantum systems, and discovered a physical principle for the heat conversion into usable energy. In 2014, he produced a unitary relativistic quantum theory. In the years 1995-2000, he held a course called Dissipative Systems for the master degree.

Devki N. Talwar graduated from Allahabad University in India in 1976 with a PhD degree in Condensed Matter Physics. From 1977-80 he worked as a Visiting Scientist at the Commissariat a’l Energie Atomic, Saclay, Gif-sur-Yvette, France with Professor M. Vandevyver. While at Saclay he collaborated with theoretical /experimental group of Professor M. Balkanski, including Karel Kunc, M. Zigone, and G. Martinez and supervised 3 PhD theses. In January 1980 he joined the Physics Department, University of Houston as a Visiting Professor and collaborated with Professor C. S. Ting on problems related to the electronic properties of defects in Semiconductors and supervised a PhD student. From 1982-87 he was a faculty at Texas A & M University. He joined the Physics Department at Indiana University of Pennsylvania in 1987, supervised 20 MS theses. Since 2007-2014, Dr. Talwar served as the Chairperson of the Physics Department.

Supriyo Bandyopadhyay is Commonwealth Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Virginia Commonwealth University where he directs the Quantum Device Laboratory. Research in the laboratory has been frequently featured in national and international media (newspapers, internet blogs, magazines such as Business Week and EE Times, CBS, NPR, journals such as Nature, and internet news portals). Inventions made in this laboratory have been highlighted in the US Army Nanoscience Poster prepared for the Pentagon and have resulted in multiple patents. The laboratory’s educational activities were featured in a pilot study conducted by the ASME at Pennsylvania State University. Vladimir V. Rumyantsev is Head of Department of Theory of Complex Systems Dynamic Properties at A.A. Galkin Donetsk Institute for Physics and Engineering (DonIPE). He is Professor of Theoretical Physics and Nanotechnology Department at Donetsk National University (DonNU). He received PhD in Theoretical Physics (1988) from DonNU and Dr. Sci. in Condensed Matter Physics (2007) from DonIPE. Prof. Rumyantsev has authored/co-authored 4 books, 2 chapters in books and more than 230 scientific publications. He is a member of the American Physical Society as well as Mediterranean Institute of Fundamental Physics (MIFP, Italy) and Editor-in-Chiff of Journal of Photonic Materials and Technology (Science PG, USA).

Current research interests include various aspects of solid state physics, crystallooptics, photonics; more particularly - theoretical study of the effects of disorder in quasi-two-dimensional nanofilms and layered structures caused by the propagation of electromagnetic and acoustic excitations, light-matter coupling in composite nanostructures.

Prof. Vasily Yu. Belashov, PhD (Radiophysics), DSci (Physics and Mathematics). Main fields: theory and numerical simulation of the dynamics of multidimensional nonlinear waves, solitons and vortex structures in plasmas and other dispersive media. Presently, he is Chief Scientist and Professor at the Kazan Federal University. He was Coordinator of studies on the International Program “Solar Terminator” (1987-1992), and took part in the International Programs WITS/WAGS and STEP. Riabushkin Oleg Alekseevich at present is the head of “Research of materials for quantum electronics” laboratory at Kotelnikov Institute of Radio-engineering and Electronics of RAS (http://cplire.ru/html/index.html) and deputy chair of photonics department of Physical and Quantum Electronics faculty at Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology. In 2016 Oleg was established as expert of Russian Academy of Science in the field of general physics.

Dr. Onder Turan received his BSc., MSc. and Ph.D in 1998, 2000 and 2007 respectively from Anadolu University. He became an Associate Professor of Anadolu University in 2013. He is an active teacher and researcher in sustainable energy, the environmental impact of industrial/aero systems, aero-engines, cogeneration systems, aircraft propulsion, exergy, thermodynamics, gas turbines and ecology technology. He has published more than 100 journal and conference papers in the above fields. He has served as a member of technical and scientific committee, panel session chair, reviewer and editor for numerous international conferences and journals.

Ajay Kumar Mishra is a full Professor at the Nanotechnology and Water Sustainability Research Unit at College of Science, Engineering & Technology, University of South Africa, Florida Science Campus, South Africa and also a “Fellow” member at “Royal Society of Chemistry” UK. He received his B. Sc, M. Sc., degrees in 1997 and 2001 respectively from Purvanchal University Jaunpur, India and M. Phil. and Ph.D. degrees in 2003 and 2007, respectively, from The University of Delhi, India. From March 2006 to September 2009, he was postdoctoral fellows at various South African Institutes/Universities. In addition, he was appointed as “Senior Lecturer” in October 2009 at the Department of Applied Chemistry, University of Johannesburg, South Africa where he was promoted to “Associate Professor” in November 2011 until December 2014. Recently, he was appointed by University of South Africa as “Full Professor” since January 2015. He is also working as “Adjunct Professor” at Jiangsu University, China.

His research interests include synthesis of multifunctional nano-materials, nano-composites, biopolymer and/or petrochemical based biodegradable polymers, polymers based materials/composites, smart materials, CNT and graphene based composite materials and water research.

Dr. V.P.S. Awana is a principal scientist and DAE-SRC Outstanding Investigator of CSIR-National Physical Laboratory, New Delhi, India.He recieved his Ph.d. in Superconductivity from NPL Delhi University.He was elected as an Academician Asia Pacific Academy  of Materials (APAM) in 2015.He was awarded with MRSI-ICSC Superconductivity & Materials Science Annual Prize in 2014.
